Okada Manila opens 70-machine slot zone featuring AGS and Aruze games

Philippine casino resort Okada Manila has opened a new gaming area with 70 slot machines from suppliers AGS and Aruze Gaming Global. The zone opened on Sunday, and several of its games are appearing in the Philippine market for the first time.

The area is at the entrance to the resort's Pearl Lobby gaming floor. Each supplier provides 35 machines, and the zone has six featured game families. The setup also includes upgraded LED displays.

Okada Manila is part of the Entertainment City zone in Manila. It is controlled by Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment Inc, a subsidiary of Japanese group Universal Entertainment Corp.

First dedicated zone of its kind

Rick Colman, vice president of electronic gaming operations at Okada Manila, said at the opening ceremony that this is the first dedicated AGS and Aruze zone in the Philippines and in Asia. He told GGRAsia that the project combines a prominent location with an agreement under which both suppliers will launch new games at Okada Manila before offering them elsewhere in the market.

According to Mr Colman, the location serves both VIP guests and main-floor visitors. The extra screens and dedicated layout are meant to attract attention to an entrance area that players might otherwise walk past. He described the exclusive launch arrangement as an important part of the project and said most manufacturers do not offer this.

Games and cabinets on show

The resort's announcement listed the following titles:

  • AGS: Legends of Imperial 88, Triple Coin Treasures and Rakin' Bacon! Triple Oink
  • Aruze Gaming Global: Triple Treasure Pot Spin, Cash Master Blaster and Horrorific!

The launch also marked the Philippine debut of an AGS cabinet with a 49-inch curved screen. This was confirmed by Deric Goh, director of Mindslot-e, the exclusive distributor of AGS in Asia. Mr Goh said three new AGS titles are launching at the resort, and another four to five titles are being considered for later. He added that the installation will act as a testing ground for new products before a wider rollout. He also noted that AGS has already seen positive results in the Philippines with its Lion Cash product.

Michael Tuen, senior sales account executive at Aruze Gaming Global, said the company is introducing three new titles at Okada Manila. He also said Aruze is preparing a new cabinet for the first quarter of 2027, and the Philippines could be the first market in Asia to receive it. Mr Tuen described the Philippines as the company's most important jurisdiction in Asia.

Mr Colman said the new area is part of the resort's ongoing effort to refresh its gaming offering and improve the guest experience by working with international suppliers.
